Hello internet wanderers, and welcome to the site of John McKay-Clements, expat Canadian rock songwriter, vocalist, guitar player and professional sideman. WARNING: This site contains excessive adjectives, an irritating by-product of written descriptions of music. Newly returned to his ancestral homeland of England, John continues to tour and record with his lovely musical partner Lesley Young, and to finalise tracks for his first solo album.

John could be described as suffering from an urban poet rocker sensibility, if you really want to. Or, to use a food analogy, he has been cooking up a hotpot full of alternative, psychedelic, garage  and experimental spices, savours &c. &c. If all this sounds appealing, then you are his kind of people and he hopes to continue to be yours.

John and Lesley are also in recording process, doing pre-production on new tracks for her next EP, which will advance her open-tuned, jazz-inflected, alternative folky pop vision another major step. This EP, projected for summer release 2013, will be the first full recording of their sophisticated and challenging blend of acoustic and electric styles.

Lesley Young tour dates will be posted soon. Performances of John’s solo project with band are expected to follow track completion, 2013. About John’s forthcoming tracks: witnesses on tape will include Dominic Troiano, Canada’s greatest guitar player, electronic expressionist Kurt Swinghammer, Richard Fortin, rock guitar hero and classical arranger par excellence, and a bunch of other talented and generous souls. Assoc. prod. and vocal co-pro. Lesley Young, production contributions by Terry Brown, Joao Carvalho, and David Travers-Smith.
